Will Bōndia still work for me if I have a low or normal BMI?Updated 3 months ago
Bōndia may still be a good fit for some people with a low or normal BMI, but the strongest clinical evidence so far is in specific groups. In our 12-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, Bōndia showed evidence of benefit in prespecified subgroups, including:
Women with osteopenia (regardless of BMI), with significantly less femoral neck bone loss (p = 0.044); Women with BMI ≥ 30, with significantly less total hip bone loss (p = 0.041). That said, BMI doesn’t tell the whole story. Some women have a normal BMI but higher body fat, which can be associated with higher inflammation. In the trial, an exploratory analysis found that women with ≥ 40% body fat (independent of BMI) had significantly less total hip bone loss with Bōndia (p = 0.035). Therefore, factors such as aging, osteopenia, high inflammation, etc., should be considered beyond BMI alone.
